We recently found the VW on eBay after we sold it several years ago. The person who bought it from me had it all this time but hardly drove it, maybe 1000 miles has been put on it these past 7-8 years. The bug was in a storage facility collecting dust, I had to save it! So I bought it on eBay again.
We freshened up the interior with new seats, door panels, and headliner. We also added a new banjo steering wheel with new horn button.
We also dropped the original engine and installed a 40hp Big Bore stale air engine with a stainless abarth muffler, lots of PEP now! We still have the original 36hp motor to go with the bug if you desire.
=============================================
First Story,
I found this ’58 numbers matching beetle several years ago in New Mexico, a super dry solid car that I just had to grab. Pops and I found it on eBay and shipped it over to my shop here in NY. What a beauty it was. Seems like it is hard to find these dry, rot free, complete cars these days now with internet searching in full swing. Most collectors are snatching them up.
This was the first VW I restored in my new shop at the time, before that, my bugs were restored in a 1 car garage. So extra steps and details were put into this bug since we had a larger facility to work like gentleman.
