Great lil story here, The End of an Era: The Legacy of the Last VW Beetle Produced. It is truly amazing that the beetle lasted as long as it did around the world. Mexico had the last Classic VW Beetle roll off the line in 2003. Just nutty. I remember going to Cancun many years ago and seeing the bugs zooming around as taxis all over the place. They would take out the passenger seat to allow customers to get in and out easily.
