Story:

David contacted me early in 2018 to have our shop restore this 1961 Convertible, but after we performed the media blasting on the bug, the paneling on the bug was a little to beat up for David’s tastes.

So now we are offering the project up for sale.  Overall this is a very solid project with many new parts to go along with it and a restored numbers matching chassis.  The 40hp engine we have for the project is also the original, it will need a rebuild.

There is no VIN tag for the trunk.  At one time in its history the front tub area had some repairs, so the old sheet metal with the tag that was on it, was most likely tossed.

The tranny that is in the bug is a low gear dune buggy tranny, so fast off the line but only a top speed of 55mph.  We do have the original 6v tranny that goes with it.

This is a perfect bug for a father son duo looking to get into an early project without breaking the bank.  You have many new parts that go along with it, along with a restored numbers matching chassis.

A solid bug that needs some finesse and some hammer and dolly done on the body to get it straight.
