Volkswagens are, of course, a mainstay of the German-occupied areas portrayed in the Amazon production The Man In The High Castle. This VW Type 2 was carefully hand-hammered back into shape, but not fully restored, for a film-friendly weathered look.
If you guys have not see the series “The Man in the High Castle” that is on Amazon Prime, you are missing a very cool show. I got into this show late last year and can’t wait for season 3 due out very soon. It is an alternate universe sort of speak show, where the Japanese and Germans win WWII, and how the USA is run under their rule. It’s interesting and eerie at the same time.
Any WHO! There are many episodes where VWs pop their heads in, from Beetles, Busses, Ghias, Things, etc. The first episode shows many old clips of the beetle on the assembly line. And you can also spot some bugs through the Nazi streets of NYC, video is below.
British Columbia’s film industry is expected to spend a record $2.6-billion in the province this year. The demand for technicians and artists is at an all-time high; if a studio is going to be competitive, it’s going to need top-notch set designers, makeup artists, riggers, camera crew and special-effects specialists. You’re also going to need a car guy.

The Man In The High Castle is a piece of speculative fiction, posing the question, “What if the Allies had lost the Second World War?” In the Emmy Award-winning Amazon series, now in production of its third season, characters struggle for survival in an 1960s-era America divided between occupying Japanese and German forces. There is sabotage, intrigue, resistance and flawed, sympathetic characters on both sides.
Episode 1 shows some VW clips on the assembly line and a couple of Type 1s driving through the streets of NAZI NYC. If you want to get into a new show, I found this show very intriguing, I keep wanting more each time I see an episode. Season 3 is due out soon.
