Classic VW BuGs A touching 1966 Beetle Family Story by Ben Hardy

Very touching story folks.
Hi Chris! My daughter & I have been following you for a few months now, and  I wanted to share our story with you, as well as get an idea what our “Rose” is worth. That’s what my daughter named our beetle. 🙂
First off, our beetle is a 66 1300 sedan, all original.  My grandparents bought it new, and it was passed down to my dad. I actually drove it as my first car & learned to drive a manual on it when I was 15. I’m 41 now ;-).  My dad & I were going to restore it 10 years ago, but life & time got away from us & she sat up since.  Between then & now my dad had 2 strokes & is confined to a hospital bed with no way to communicate, but my mom is his angel here on earth taking care of him.
Now it’s my daughters time to drive in 2 years & were trying to begin what my dad & I never got to!  We got the timing set, valves adjusted & got her running, but couldn’t take her for a spin. The pressure plate/clutch was frozen to the flywheel or input shaft, and tried all types of “old school” tricks to get it freed up. 🙂
That’s when we started breaking her down a little bit at a time. We’re about a month away from separating the body from the chassis…..we’ve done all this with the help of your how to videos! Thank you very much for your help, and I hope to meet you one day. My daughter loves watching your videos too, and I know she would Love to meet you as well!
Finally, in your opinion, what would our “Rose” be worth as is now, and after a good, long body off restoration?  Attached are some pics of me, dad & the bug for ya! 🙂 & a link to my Facebook video of her running 🙂
Thanks again for all you do, and we look forward to more of you & hopefully meeting you one day ! 🙂
Sincerely,
Benjamin & Ainsley Hardy
