Proud to announce that my 1951 Split Window Beetle with the rare crotch coolers has been accepted and is heading to the 2015 Greenwich Concours D’ Elegance! Our day of showing will be THIS Sunday May 31st, would love to see some of you guys there! Real simple to get to, right off 95.
We have been working on this split over the last few months to get it period correct. We recently found a 1951 25hp motor that has just been dropped into it. I bought the car with a 36hp motor, we took that out and replaced it with the 25hp.
Previous owner had the wrong seat rails in the car which gave the seats an unusual tilt, that is now fixed.
I have also gotten new rear seat period pillows and assist straps.
Period correct semaphores have been installed.
Tightened up the interior a little more as well. So now I feel somewhat behind the resto, ha! =o)
This is our 4th straight year heading to the Concours! Hopefully the storms hold off that day.
Check out the Bonhams Auction also happening this weekend at the Concours, a 1946 Beetle is crossing the block! I can’t wait to see that, it is in the book and estimated to hit $75,000-$125,000.
My good friend Vince Vespe and his ’65 Karmann Ghia was also accepted to the show!
Vince’s car hits 50 years old this year and still tootles around with the original owner, Vince himself. Should be a great time.
