Auctions America by RM, VWs cross the block
Auctions America hosted by RM is happening this weekend in Ft. Lauderdale FL. Of course this was one of the reasons I came to the Sunny South and see what the show has to offer. There are several VWs crossing the block, so naturally it interests me to see what these lil guys do at a prestigious auction. You can see here what VWs are hitting the block.
These auctions like RM, Gooding and Company, Bohnams, Auctions America, all bring high end classic cars. But these shows unlike Barrett Jackson or Mecum do not center much around the Muscle Car realm, you see them flurry through every now and then. But you will see many high end euro cars crossing the block along with late 19th century, early 20th century, and Art Deco American cars from the 30s and 40s. Crazy stuff! I like that the VWs of the air-cooled era are making their way through these events, it is fitting for them. They have been gaining ground as of late.
Recent RM auction this past January had a ’53 Split ragtop beetle go for 60k. A stand up car for sure, but if you look closely, there are some incorrect features. Regardless, she still brought the price. Why? Because it looked awesome, it looked correct. AUCTIONS AMERICA home site can be seen here!

This SUNDAY I head to the other Ft. Lauderdale Florida show!
The 30th Annual VW “Show ‘n Shine.”
What is really cool is that I was asked by this show to present an award “Best Stock Restoration.” You know that is ALL ME!! =o) I came up with a great trophy for the winner. I will be shooting the event in all its glory, FULL HD for all to see. I hope to see some of my followers down there. Check out more info of the SHOW ‘N SHINE HERE.
My weekend is gonna be killa!

Wayne Carini from Chasing Classic Cars, what is in his attic?
Video: Secrets of Wayne Carini’s attic
It turns out that even Wayne Carini, host of TV’s “Chasing Classic Cars,” doesn’t remember every part that’s tucked away in his attic. Check out this latest Hagerty video, where Wayne gives us an exclusive behind-the-scenes peek into all of the nooks and crannies of his shop. See the VIdeo HERE.
I got this email from Hagerty the other day and thought I would share it with you. Take a close look in his attic, see if you see any German craftsmanship in there. Some amazing things can be found. Wayne is a fan of the VW.
We actually met Wayne a couple years ago at the Fairfield County Concours ‘D Elegance in CT. where our ’55 ragtop VW was the first bug ever to be accepted to that show.
